Gramps is a genealogy program for both family interested hobbyists as well as professionals who can use all of the features. Gramps is an acronym for Genealogical Research and Analysis Management Programming System and the software is developed by a community that releases the program as an open source project. With Gramps, arbitrary information about people and the connections between people can be documented, stored and browsed. In addition to the extensive features even a family tree for animals (Animal Pedigree) can be included.
Features
Inter alia, to the features belong interactive maps, in which you can enter events from persons. To all persons, you can add photos, videos, events, notes, contact information, addresses and sources. You can easily show the families and relationships between people and their parents, children and relatives.
Export Formats
The standard format used by Gramps is based on XML and is called Gramps XML. The file extension is .gramps. In addition, also the format Gramps XML Package with the file extension .gpkg is available. Behind the XML data, the package also contains all media data, you have used in your family tree. Furthermore, you can export data in the formats GEDCOM, CSV, vCalendar, vCard, Web Family Tree (.wft) and GeneWeb's Format. The data itself can be also saved as TXT, PDF, RTF, HTML, ODT and LaTeX.
Import Formats
An import is possible in the own formats Gramps XML and Gramps Package but also in older formats such as GECOM or in the CSV format.

- PHPGedView also supports displaying Gramps XML
- If you want to display Gramps XML on your website, you can use GrampsXMLView
