As an audio source, you can use any audio signal. So without problems, you effects or an equalizer can be applied. For this, source clients, so-called Ices are used. The Ices send the signal to the Icecast server, which then streams the audio data to the listerners. With this, the recording studio and the server can be separated. Examples of Ices are Edcast for Windows, ices, Muse and Icegenerator for Linux and Nicecast for the Mac. On the home page of Icecast, there are extensive information on this subject under the topic Ices.
Receiving streams
To receive the streams, you need a streaming capable audio player. You can use programs such as the VLC media player (Win, Linux, Mac, mobile phones), Winamp (Win, Android) or Zinf (Windows, Linux).Author
