MPlayer is a free Open Source multimedia player, which is available for a great number of operating systems as well as it is supporting a great number of file formats. Also platform specific file formats are supported, so that you can play, for example, Windows Media Videos on Linux or Mac. Even damaged files are no problem for this player which is very tolerant regarding errors.

Furthermore, the player can be easily used as a viewer in other software and all codecs are included, so that the player do not overwrites important codecs on your system and there are no compatibility problems with other audio or video software.
