MuseScore is a free music notation program that allows you to write notes on a note sheet on the computer. You can quickly and easily create sheets for your own compositions. It is a good alternative to commercial software like Sibelius or Finale.

The input of the notes can be easily carried out with the keyboard or mouse or a MIDI keyboard via a MIDI hardware port. Notes can be arranged at will by simple moving them with the mouse, therefore it is an easy-to-use WYSIWYG editor. The number of staves is arbitrary and the program also supports polyphonic songs (up to four voices per staff).

With the built-in sequencer and synthesizer, a playback of the music songs is possible. In addition, the note sheet can be saved as a PDF document, SVG or PNG file or you can print it out immediately. Furthermore, an export to the LilyPond format is possible and you can import MIDI and MusicXML files to process them on the sheet.
